1982 Ibanez-Maxon FL-9


To verify your Ibanez FL-9 was manufactured by Maxon from 1982 - 1984, check the following:

  • The word "Maxon" should appear on the inside of the battery cover.
  • The word "Maxon" should appear on the bottom inside of the circuit board.
  • The word "Maxon" should appear on the inside case just above the FET on/off switch under the gray foam.
  • The circuit board contains green capacitors.
  • It has a gray battery terminal.
  • The circuit board has a JRC or T1 chip.

Regarding the back label:

  • Should say "Made in Japan" in bottom right.
  • The earliest versions have a black label with silver text like this one. They were soon replaced by a silver label with black text.
  • The 1990 reissue models have a silver label with the letters "CE" in the upper right corner of the back label .
