FAQs - Some Typical Questions Our Customers Ask

Please feel free to contact us if you have additional questions, or if you’d like advice on how to use our ads to help your business grow.

image1Q: What exactly does your company do?
A: We place your advertising and/or your company logo on city streets and sidewalks using stencils and power washing.

Q: How do you imprint my advertising image to the sidewalk?
A: We use a steel stencil cutout and then power wash it to transfer your advertisement to the surface of the sidewalk. Your advertisement is created as our power washer cleans away the dirt ingrained in the sidewalk, exposing a clean surface underneath. This, in contrast to the dirty and grimy look of the typical sidewalk, makes your image stand out as if it was painted on the sidewalk!

stencilQ: Do you use any chemicals to apply my stenciled advertisement?
A: No. We use a high pressure washer with pure water and no chemicals added to create your image. We create an environmentally friendly “green” advertisement for you that your customers will appreciate.

Q: How long will my advertisement image last?
A: In general our images should last two to four months with minimal to no erosion visible, depending on the following factors:

  1. How dirty the surface initially was.
  2. Weather conditions such as how often there is a hard rain.
  3. How aggressively the image is applied (such as was it applied with just one pass of our pressure washer or with several passes of our pressure washer).

C1 adQ: What can I put on my ad?
A: Most of our customers want their name, address and telephone number. Some add their URL or a short phrase of what their business has to offer. The choice it up to you, but be advised that if you say too much your letters will become smaller and harder for people to read as they pass by so it’s better to say less and get more attention because of it.

Q: Is this legal on public sidewalks?
A: As far as we understand, it’s not illegal to clean sidewalks, which is what we are doing with your ad. This form of advertising is currently in use around the world and there have been no problems reported. When property is developed, property owners generally dedicate part of the land as "public right-of-way" for streets, sidewalks, utilities and similar public uses so sidewalks are usually considered public property.

stencil3Q: How do I get started?
A: The process works as follows:

  1. Contact Cleanvertising.
  2. Select the size and content of your advertisement.
  3. Select the location.
  4. We then will then power wash your message into the sidewalk. It's that simple!

Please feel free to contact us. We will be happy to discuss your advertisement needs at no cost or obligation to you. So feel free to contact us if you have additional questions that we can answer, or if you’d like some advice on how to use these ads.
